How do you change someone's mind?
Person A: ...and that's my rock-solid argument for why I'm right and you're wrong.
This probably isn’t it the best method. No matter how reasonable you are, people often get defensive when you argue with them. Instead, try asking questions.
Person A: What sources do you trust? What experiences have shaped your values?
If you approach people with curiosity and a genuine desire to understand their perspective, you might be surprised how much people open up and start listening to you. And you might learn something. Sometimes the best way to change someone’s mind is to give them an opportunity to change yours, too.
