Menstrual Synchrony

Comic Text
(Lily takes her laundry to the laundry room where Simon is doing his laundry)Lily: Well, look, Simon. We're so synced up, we even have the same laundry schedule. Simon: Hey Lily.
Lily: Be careful, you'll start MENSTRUATING the same time as me.
Simon: Even though I've never menstruated before.
Lily: Yeah, just a heads up so you don't freak out when it happens.
Simon: You know, there's no scientific evidence for menstrual synchrony.
Lily: What? But it happens to practically every woman I know.
Simon: Studies have debunked it. But if you're around someone a lot, you're likely to notice when you do sync up.
Lily: I'm skeptical. I'm regretting bringing up ths subject while you watch me put my underwear in the washing machine.
Intended Use

Comic Text
Lily: Who arbitrarily decided that it's inappropriate to wear patterned flannel pants in public?Simon: A sad, bitter person, probably.
Lily: I could make my OWN flannel pants, and if anyone questions me I'll say "these are just pants. These were MADE to be worn outside." People would accept it, because "intended use" is such a powerful idea.
Simon: Like stuff that's "for men" and "for women."
Lily: Yeah. God forbid you use a WOMEN'S razor or your face will sprout violets!
Pajamas

Comic Text
(Lily invites Simon into her apartment, Sasha is on the couch in her pajamas)Lily: Come on in, I'll make tea.
Sasha: Hi Simon.
Simon: Hey Sasha.
Sasha: Sorry I'm in my pajamas.
Simon: In your own home, while I just happen to spontaneously walk in? UNACCEPTABLE! Just kidding, I don't mind.
Lily: Fortunately Simon isn't a sad, bitter person. Right, Simon?
Simon: True. Not bitter, just a little sad.
A Little Sad

Comic Text
Lily: So you're a little sad?Simon: Not always. Lane and I used to be really close, but lately she's been working a lot and she spends most of her free time with her girlfiend, so I don't see her much anymore. Lily: Oh, that sucks.
Simon: She's not doing anything WRONG. She has a lot to deal with and she has to prioritize herself. I just miss her.
Lily: Yeah, of course. If I ever disappear into a new relationship and start neglecting my friends, will you please snap me out of it?
Simon: I'll try.
The Cultural Pull of Romantic Pairing

Comic Text
Simon: I've thought about getting married. It's not what I want, it comes from this fear of being alone.Lily: I don't think good things come from being motivated by fear.
Simon: I agree. I don't need to be the number one person in anyone's life. I just don't want to ALWAYS come after someone else. I'm used to people cancelling plans with me to spend time with their romantic partners, or even strangers they could potentially date. I don't want to sound entitled or like I'm blaming anyone. Pairing off is SO important to practically everyone else that if I don't do it, I'm left behind.
