Spencer's Unpopular Opinion

Comic Text (video of Spencer in an editing program)
Spencer: We should think critically about sexual assault. If you're a woman and you get drunk alone at a bar, you're taking a lot of risks. Like would you leave your car unlocked and with the keys in the ignition, and expect no one to steal it? I wouldn't.
(Lily and angie talk about the video)
Lily: Wow, that sounds bad.
Angie: RIGHT?
Lily: I'll talk to Spencer.
(Spencer talks to Lily with a sock puppet that looks like him)
Spencer: Lily, meet my new friend, Sockser.
Sockser: Hi Lily! I've only heard bad things about you! I mean...
Spencer: Shit, that's your "Spencer totally screwed something up" face.

Lily Talks to Spencer

Comic Text Lily: The thing you said about sexual assault sounds kind of victim-blamey.
Spencer: Well, that's not how I meant it. I want to EXPRESS my THOUGHTS. I don't CARE if people cancel me because they think I said something I didn't SAY.
Lily: Yeah, I usually feel the same way. The question is, what IMPACT to you want to have on your audience? Do you want to stir up outrage and backlash, or do you want people to GET the VALUE of what you say? Because if you can make your point in a more palatable way without compromising your message, you might get the SECOND thing. And if you don't, then what's the point of expressing your opinion?

About the Money

Comic Text Spencer: Look, I don't pay you to criticize my response videos.
Lily: If you lose enough revenue over this, you won't be paying me at ALL.
Spencer: *sigh* Okay, I'll think about what you said.
Lily: Thanks.
Spencer: Hey Lily. Sockser wants to talk to you.
Sockser: I know Spencer would never admit this to your face, but he'd go BROKE just to keep you around.
Spencer: Sockser! Don't listen to him, he's making stuff up.

The Safety Shower

Comic Text Paige: We're taking bets on when you'll have to use the safety shower.
Simon: I don't let my students handle corrosive chemicals.
Paige: Huh. The last chemistry teacher had an incident every few months.
Simon: That seems excessive. In all my years being a student, none of my classmates have ever had one. You mean someone pulled the shower when they weren't supposed to?
Paige: No, there were chemical spills. Ambulances arrived, the whole works. You're probably smart to avoid it. But our betting pool will be disappointed.
Simon: Yes, I can imagine the pain of knowing my students are NOT being injured.

High School Nudity

Comic Text Simon: I don't want to have to order a student to strip naked in front of me to use the safety shower. What if it's traumatic and it creates a mental scar more painful than any chemical burn? There's NO OTHER high school situation in which something like that would be acceptable.
Mel: We have to make safety procedures a normal thing. Modesty shouldn't MATTER when you're risking a permanent injury, and if you act like it's a big deal, you'll MAKE it a big deal. Simon: I'm not making MODESTY a big deal. I wouldn't care if the students CAME to CLASS naked. It's about me exerting authority over minors in a way that could easily be exploited.
